How to remove a very stubborn shower head?
My mom asked me to put in a new shower head for her bathroom. I did this once before in my own bathroom, and it was quite easy, so I said "sure. it'll take me less than ten minutes." Thirty minutes later, and I was standing there with a huge adjustable wrench, putting all my strength into turning that stupid shower head, and all I accomplished was scraping off most of the ridging on the end that attached to the pipe. Do you have any tricks up your sleeves to make the shower head come off easier?
Soak it with WD-40 for a few and tap as suggested in the previous post this is good and let it soak for ten minutes or so.
However get a pipe wrench and make sure you are going the right way Right is tight left is loose.
With a pipe wrench you will get more grip and should not slip.
Make sure you do not twist it so hard that you bend or break the shower arm coming out of the wall.
Once you get the old one off clean the threads up with a small wire brush and apply some WD-40 on the threads as well, then wrap the threads in some pipe tape and re install. Use your adjustable to re install with a rag wrapped around the meta so that you do not scar the chrome finish.
