Satellite Coaxial Cable
Should I put a lightning arrestor between my satellite and my television along the coax cable?
Will that protect my television from blowing out if my satellite get's struck by lightning? Will the surge from a lightning struck travel along the entire coaxial cable if I have more televisions connected to the same network? Are these new flat screen TV's more likely to be damaged or blown out from lightning strikes or do they have some sort of grounding? Or should my satellite have a ground rod to prevent the surge from running along the coaxial cable into the house.
You satellite company should have grounded the satellite when they installed it, so check with them to be sure they did or have them do it.
Surge protectors are necessary anyway due to power surges, so you should put one on each tv you have to keep them safe. HD tvs aren't any more likely to be damaged than CRT tvs, they can all get ruined by lightening or power surges.
