Hi, i am having variable tv signals, meaning that sometimes it's good and others it's bad. What can i do?
Hi, i wanted to hook up cable to two other rooms in my house. I splitted that was already running in one room then connected a 50ft RG59 then splitted that and ran two 12 fts RG59 which was just enough length to go into both rooms. Now at first my hdtv was working fine but all of a sudden the signal becomes very weak and would stay like that for days. i was thinking of getting an amp (specifically http://www.amazon.com/Bi-Directional-Amplifier-Splitter-Booster-Passive/dp/B001BMKNZI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1237536535&sr=1-2) but is there anything else that i could do?
I called the cable company (Comcast) but they said they would charge me ~$200 to run two additional cable wires and installing an amp which i think is blasphemy.
basically by splitting the signal so many times you are weakening the signal.
your splits are in the wrong places.
starting from the main cable line...you need to get a distribution amplifier that has one in and as many outs as you need (sounds like you need at least 3 outputs, 4 if you have high speed internet) and the amp must be able to pass at least 1000mhz of bandwidth.
main cable line goes to the in and then you output to all tvs.
you might also want to upgrade to rg6 cable instead of rg58/59. rg6 is thicker but it offers less loss and better shielding that rg58/59
